How do I stop braces pain without pan reliever?

I need help! I just got braces yesterday and Im not able to swallow pills, not please don't laugh. Its something I just can't do and I tried chewing my pain reliever as I usually do, but then I just made the pain worse. Is there anyway I could relieve the pain without having to swallow pain reliever? Thanks!
